Grab and Go Snack
What makes this recipe so great is that it’s incredibly simple to prepare. You only need a few common ingredients to make it — the almonds, honey, olive oil, ground mustard, and chili flakes. I love the use of almonds for this recipe since I tend to always have some on hand anyway. They’re really an incredible superfood thanks to their healthy fat content and the protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals they provide. They’re a solid snack choice for anyone who is concerned about their cholesterol as well, as they’ve been shown to reduce the ‘bad’ LDL type of cholesterol while also lowering blood pressure as well. Honey Mustard – A Nutritional Powerhouse
The rest of the ingredients used provide an authentic honey mustard flavor entirely from scratch. The best part is, these honey mustard almonds don’t just take incredible, but they are super good for you as well thanks to both the ground mustard and the honey. I just love the taste of mustard, and ground mustard is an excellent source of calcium, magnesium, potassium, and folate.
Honey is of course a nutritional powerhouse as well, as it’s loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. It’s not only an excellent natural sweetener, but there is growing evidence it may actually help prevent cancer as well. (2) These two ingredients are combined together with the almonds, olive oil, and chili flakes in a bowl and tossed before roasting them for between 12-15 minutes.
Once they come out of the oven, you’re going to want to cool them completely before enjoying them. By using a cup and a half of almonds, you can make enough for about six servings by following this recipe. They are perfect for anyone following a paleo diet and trying to focus on finding healthier snacking alternatives. There’s nothing better when you’re craving a snack than grabbing a convenient option that provides you with protein, healthy fats, and essential nutrients.
