Fried Honey Banana (Unbelievably Good)

One of the best parts about following a paleo diet is coming up with great dessert ideas that are healthy and fit in with paleo guidelines. It can certainly be challenging at times but every now and then you stumble upon a healthy dessert recipe that tastes like pure bliss. That pretty much sums up this recipe for paleo-approved fried honey bananas. If you’ve never tried out fried bananas before, believe me, you’re missing out. Adding a sweet and sticky mixture of honey and cinnamon to them takes an already great dessert choice and makes it absolutely incredible.

These paleo-friendly fried honey bananas are unbelievably good. Best of all, they are super quick and easy to prepare, taking no more than 10 minutes. Anybody who has tried fried bananas before knows just how yummy they are -- but just wait until you try them drizzled with honey and cinnamon.

How To Make A Great Dessert Even Better

This delicious dessert uses a bunch of my favorite foods as ingredients which probably explains why I love it so much. You’ll be hard-pressed to find healthy desserts that taste absolutely amazing using just four bananas, coconut oil, honey, ground cinnamon, and almonds, but here we are. Ever since switching to a paleo diet, I’ve been absolutely blown away by just how many different uses bananas actually have when it comes to making paleo-friendly desserts. They’re one of my favorite fruits to eat, thanks to their high amount of potassium and dietary fiber. They’re even a great option for individuals with type 2 diabetes, as they’ve been shown to help keep blood glucose stable due to their fiber content. (1) Bananas a great snack to grab quickly and enjoy at any time. But when you fry them? They are hands down one of my favorite treats to enjoy.

Coconut Oil, A Great Source of MCTs and Packed with Flavor

This recipe fries the bananas briefly in a pan containing melted coconut oil. The coconut oil adds a nice amount of healthy saturated fats (yes, that’s actually a thing). While many people believed saturated fats were horrible for your health for years, it turns out they might not be quite so bad for you. Especially the medium-chain triglyceride fatty acids that are found in coconut oil. Unlike other types of fat, these MCT fats actually boost the healthy levels of cholesterol (HDL) in your body. (2) After frying the bananas in the coconut oil, all that’s left to do is drizzle with a deliciously sweet mixture of honey and cinnamon and then sprinkle them with sliced almonds. This is one recipe that’s nearly guaranteed to become one of your favorite desserts.

If you’ve never tried them, the idea of frying bananas might seem just a little bit strange to some people. That and the fact that when most people hear the word “fried” they immediately picture unhealthy fatty foods. I’m happy to report that these fried bananas are completely healthy and absolutely delicious. I have to admit that I was hesitant to try them out myself, but after the first bite of fried banana, I was sold. Try serving these with a bowl of paleo-friendly banana ice cream if you really want to treat yourself. You won’t regret it.
